There is much to be said about the curb appeal of a home and how it attributes to your first impression of the home owner. Now think in micro form and realize this stays the same for your front entrance and foyer. Wether your home is a smaller version of perfect or simply there may be too much space, there is always room for functionality and decorations according to it.

You take a step in and what do you think? Does it have a pleasing smell of home, or are your senses bombarded with last nights dinner and dirty socks? Frankly, it really only matters to you as to the level of maintenance that the state of your dwelling place may reside in, but don't be fooled, others do pay mind. What is thought of the moment of entry is carried throughout the home at heart. Does your home whisper peace and calm upon entry, or cramped and cluttered.

My suggestion is to create a opened space with limited items and storage in a near by place. If you have a family I would implement an organized chaos method of applying your personal touches to keep the flow of traffic moving: Create small storage that is seasonal, use small hooks for the little ones and storage containers for outside gear. Find creative solutions from furniture items custom to fit snug in corners of your hallway and hide leftover items.

I dont think any foyer is complete without a key place, an umbrella holder, mirror for a quick look over before exiting, and great lighting with simple seasonal decorative pieces. Take the challenge and check yourself for a more refined you and stay organized.
