Front and Backyard Sense

Coming from a home with a small back yard space (literally just a deck) I can relate to looking inward to find zen in a city with space as a rare commodity. Gathering some peace for me has been a work out for my green thumb as I have previously created a mini potted garden in my space. But a few candles, pillows, and a hidden place for recycle has gone a long way in keeping my "rush of the city" like mind to a calm when resting my feet in my backyard.

Organizing your space according to your senses is best for small places in any case. If your balcony or deck smells like city air trash, try an overhanging canopy with large shrubs and foliage to surround you and enclose freshness with lavender bushes. Too little light? Add mirrors and reflective decorations that are metallic and alike. Obnoxious neighbours? Use curtains or add some divider to indicate your need for privacy. Focus on these few tasks for a great entertaining space:

1. Create a conversational area 2. Define your palate 3. Add some heat (fire pit or candles!)

4. Maximize space by doubling functions of your furniture pieces 5. Go green 6. Be at Home

If space isn't really a problem remember that a minimal decorative scheme will enhance your spaces motif more than over decorated items. Creating clutter around any room is an ill sufficient way of expressing your inner self. Creating flow in a space filled with specific content enhances the element of design. Finding your self is a gift, wether you have enough sense is up to you.
