Have you ever crossed the line while shopping and you hear that voice in your head that screams, "You way over did yourself!"...... Is this a persistent feeling for you as a consumer? One should be prepared to answer the question of "when is it time to say it was too much?" In the business of decluttering and sorting I find the cause to many issues of my clients is rooted in the frivolous lifestyle that they choose to lead. I am not one to judge because I have been guilty as such, but to the point, how can someone be helped when the monster of greed takes ahold. In this time of economic depravity we can hold each other accountable for the attitudes we need to have while spending on credit and creating monsters of children who are built by the industry to crave more.

A few thoughts that have helped me focus on what is most important in life and embrace the minimalist lifestyle that has brought me into a deeper sense of satisfaction enough to want to share.

1. Build a healthy relationship with finances and maintain it with a proper balance of saving and spending.

2. Learn self worth is not gained by what you own but what you have always been.

3. Be eager for great change and do not embrace the guilt of letting things go.

4. Recognize the social ties to cut regarding a bad attitude and lifestyle.

5. Focus on what is truly valuable.

Becoming a minimalist is not just about the things you own but the very essence of who you are being able to be free from possessions owning you. I challenge you to check your reserves and recourse your attitude with ownership and not allow the dollar sign to signal satisfaction or a credit card rule your soul.
